Peace was the aim of this 3rd-flooring bar and library by Austin designer Fern Santini. Opening onto a deck nestled in the treetops, it is an edgy yet chilled-out lair “to lounge and listen to new music, have a cocktail, and check out the sunset, surrounded by a globe-course pictures collection of musicians who’ve changed [the field] forever,” shares Santini. Together with a sturdy library of tunes books, Santini is smitten with the trippy Kyle Bunting dyed cowhide ceiling. It is visually stunning, but it’s also “a fantastic acoustical element that functions when the McIntosh MTI100 Integrated Turntable is cranked up a bit,” she factors out. A midcentury FontanaArte chandelier, antique Turkish rug, and custom Shota Yamaguchi desk all buoy the semi-round bar topped with towering brass shelves.

When Dallas designer Mary Beth Wagner and nearby architect Christy Blumenfeld ended up summoned back to the home they tackled alongside one another a couple years back, they ended up requested for property bar suggestions to make a focused room for entertaining close to the kitchen and family members room. Born from an unused patio, the now-enclosed location melds deep blue-eco-friendly partitions and a showstopping bar. The latter is adorned with geometric-print tiles and “a metallic grasscloth that turned the backsplash so as to not choose absent from the patterned front of the bar,” says Wagner, who also included brass shelving to demonstrate off a stunning stash of stemware. The outcome? “Elegant but a minimal funky,” as Wagner puts it, “which satisfies the homeowners’ personalities.”

Developed as a subterranean speakeasy for the Dallas Kips Bay Decorator Demonstrate Dwelling in 2021, this gallery-like bar, rounded out by a lounge and secondary kitchen area, attracts from the aesthetics of hedonistic Prohibition-period haunts. “The star of the room is absolutely the cantilevered island that characteristics a Cambria countertop. We made it with a structural engineer and it’s so safe that you could even dance on prime of it, which is ideal in our speakeasy ecosystem,” suggests Bryan Yates, principal designer at Dallas-dependent Yates Desygn. Even the chains dangling from the delicate mild fixture fabricated by Wired Customized Lighting to the studio’s precise specifications “are reminiscent of a flapper’s swinging fringe dress,” provides Yates.
